9 Feb 2014 Return to HK

We had our last breakfast in Vienna in the morning, then we departed to the church to have mass and listen to the performance of the Vienna Boys Choir there. Though I did not understand what the priest said and the words of all the songs, I can feel the spirit of praising God. Then, we went to have lunch in the Happy Buddha Restaurant. This was the last time we went there! The food there was absolutely good! Then, we went to the airport and said goodbye to Vienna. It was a beautiful place and I will never forget!

We are going back to Hong Kong today. I am going to miss Brahms Mu
sic School and Vienna. We also went to a mass and listened to the signing of the Vienna Boys Choir.

To conclude, this tour brought me new experience of music. It is so magical that we can play and learn music in different ways. Thank you for the teachers and Sister Margaret for organizing this programme.

8 Feb 2014 Day Tour in Salzburg

Today was really an intriguing day as we went to Salzburg, the birth place of Mozart with a lot of wonderful things to look at. I really learned many things as I realized Mozart composed his most popular opera, the Magic Flute there. We also visited the Cathedral. It was really big and beautiful. I wish we could spend more time her so that we could go to the top of the castle. Today was a bit exhausting as we traveled on the bus for a very long time.

After a long ride for almost 4 hours, we went to visit Mozart Birth Museum. There were a lot of spcial things that Mozart had used to compose. I learnt a lot about him through this trip. For example, how he worked and his whole life. I also learnt that he was poor because he did not even manage his money well. Therefore, I think we should learn to manage our money better to prevent these happened. Other than that, we went to the church which had once been damaged during the war. I learnt that once things were destroyed, it needed a long time to rebuild it. Thus, we needed to treasure what we had!

7 Feb 2014 Visiting Vienna City

Breakfasts at this hotel were superb, comparing with the last one. However, there was no wifi here, so it's pretty disappointing.

We visited the Schoebrunn Palace which was terrific! The rooms were so huge and grand that I was awed at the sight! I had a scrumptious meal at Happy Buddha Chinese Restaurant. Then, we had a tour in Vienna City. I enjoyed the story-telling times immensely! After a series of crazy shopping, we went to Beethoven Haus for dinner. I was worn out but I enjoyed the meal. Looking forward to the visit to Salzburg. tomorrow.

I really like the Schoebrunn Palace. It was very pretty and nice. I also bought many souvenirs for my friends and family. Then we has lunch in a Chinese Restaurant. Food tasted delicious. I also visited the Vienna City, there were so many things to see. Our tour guide told us many stories. We shopped together and we ate some bread! I bought bacon and cheese rolls, so good! At night, we ate in the Beethoven Haus, where we were served with pork chop, veggie pie, pea rice with white grape juice and sparkling water. That was typical Austrian food. Looking forward to tomorrow's activity. What a day!

6 Feb 2014 Departure for Vienna

Today, we learnt how to dance Austrian Folk Dance and it was an unforgettable experience. We danced in pairs, triples and groups and we had different steps like moving forward and backward, clapping hands and spinning around. It was really fun and meaningful. Then, we had vocal lessons. I learnt more singing techniques, especially how to connect different pitches together.

In the afternoon, we left Murzzuschlag and departure to Eisenstadt where Haydn worked in that town for nearly his whole life. We have gone to the Haydn Esterharzy Palace in Eisenstadt. The palace is huge and full of music atmosphere. Inside the palace, there is a fantastic concert hall. Hayden has spent a lot of time in the construction of the hall. The floor was made of wood instead of marble because word is better for music show. We also listened to one of Haydn's pieces when sitting in the beautiful hall full of paintings on the ceiling. It was absolutely awesome! This visit to the Haydn Esterharzy Palace is an unforgettable experience.

We also visited Beethoven Museum. It was not too big but many pieces by Beethoven were displayed. Also, a wooden piano was placed near the entrance. I love the piano so much! The most unforgettable thing in the museum must be his statue which looks like a real man. At night, we tasted Austrian food.

5 Feb 2014 Concert NIght in Brahms City Hall

Today is the 4th day of the tour. We had our last singing lesson with Mr Robert. We learnt staggered breathing and how to sing using a surprised emotion. After lunch, we visited the Brahms Museum. One of our students had the honor to play on Brahms' piano. It was a valuable experience. At the end of the day, we had a mini concert in the City Hall. As we had to perform in our school uniform, we had to iron them in order to keep them tidy. It was our first time to iron clothes ourselves. What a precious experience!

Brahms Museum

Today would be one of the most memorable day in the tour!
In the morning, we had our instrumental lessons. Our flute teacher taught us many differnt skills and we had a lot of fun in playing our flute. We have really improved after the lesson, Mr. Arno is a great teacher!!!

After lunch, we went to the Brahms museum. We saw original copies of Brahms' music and pianos that Brahms has played on. We also listened to a super old recording that recorded Brahms playing of the Hungarian Dance!!!!

Although the recording was not clear, it was amazing to listen to Brahms playing!!!!
Then we went back to the City Hall and rehearsed until 6 pm.

The grand show has come!! The music concert!!! We played "The Dance of Blessed Spirits" and parts from Bach's Orchestral Suite No.2!! It was a really special experience to take part in a concert in Austria, the music country.

Today was really an unforgettable day.

Concert Rehearsal

After the breakfast at hotel we went to the Brahms Museum where the life of Brahms was shown. The brief introduction was written in German and I could not understand. But I could not imagine he had performed in front of the king, what a honour! The room he used to live in was full of classical beauty. Moreover Christy was invited to play one of Haydn's songs and it was incredibly fantastic, the melody kept echoing in my brain.
The concert today was smoothly held although it was absolutely different from my expectation. I thought it would be held in a gigantic concert hall with tons of  audience but I enjoyed it anyway.
These few days our violin teacher taught us a lot of skills on playing Bach's music. I would like to thank all the teachers, especially the principal of Brahms music school, for their efforts and time.

4 Feb 2014 Attending Lessons

Today we had lessons for the whole day. We sang A Clare Benediction, The Lord bless you and keep you, All things bright and beautiful by John Rutter, Ave Verum by Mozart, Flying Free and The Jasmine Flower. We met some hilarious teachers and they were friendly. It was very tiring and since most of us still had jet lag, we were already sleepy in the evening. Everyone was exhausted after a day of hard work. We hope that after tomorrow's concert, everything will be more relaxing, since we will be seeing some famous sites in the next few days.
